The conference marked the first anniversary of Fratelli Tutti and explored the meaning and implications of a culture of encounter for the Church and the world. Cardinal Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot and Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle provided keynote addresses. Three panels explored the innovations of Fratelli Tutti; the 2019 Document on Human Fraternity, a milestone in interfaith understanding; and the implications of a culture of encounter for the future of intercultural and interreligious dialogue.
On February 4, 2019, Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar met in Abu Dhabi to sign the Document on Human Fraternity—a joint statement calling for the reconciliation of people of goodwill in service of universal peace. That bold act inspired us. With the support of the United Arab Emirates, who themselves are deeply committed to harmonious coexistence through dialogue and understanding, we formed the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity (Source The Higher Committee of Human Fraternity)
